1. Are your estimates free?

Yes, but sometimes a fee would be charged if construction drawings are required for an addition or structural changes in a building.

 

2. Do you pull permits?

Yes, building permits are required when adding or removing structural supports in a wall, roof or foundation. Permits are not always necessary on small-scale projects. Electrical and plumbing permits are handled directly by the licensed trade in question.

 

3. Do you complete all the work yourself?

Due to the increasing volume of work in the past few years, I use reliable sub-trades and approved installers that work alongside selected suppliers.  This provides you with the highest level of expertise and proper warranty coverage on all aspects of the work.

 

4. Do you use licensed trades?

Yes, trades with a proven record and only licensed plumbers and electricians are hired to work on your project.

 

5. Can we hire our own sub-trades?

Coordinating new trades can be difficult and the preference would be to use established sub-trades.

 

6. Do you do exterior construction work (roofing, siding, decks, fences, landscaping)?

I have chosen to focus on interior renovations.  Exceptions can be made for special projects needing a home addition and can be discussed.

 

7. Do you work with other suppliers who are not listed on your site?

It is preferred to work with suppliers listed on the suppliers page. This guarantees proper service and warranty coverage on all products.

 

8. Are you insured?

Yes, St. Joseph's Carpentry Ltd. carries general liability insurance.

 

9. Do you provide warranty on your work?

Yes, there is 1 year warranty on all labor. Selected suppliers offer their own warranties and some even offer lifetime warranty on their products. 

 

10. Are you recognized by bbb (better business bureau)?

Yes, I am an accredited business with an A+ rating.
